Mahlet Garedew, Ph.D.
Postdoctoral Associate
Mahlet’s Ph.D. research work at Michigan State University focused on converting components of plant matter such as lignin to energy dense transportation fuel and value-added intermediates using pyrolysis as a depolymerization process and electrocatalysis upgrading method. More specifically, investigating the effectiveness of a ruthenium catalyst in improving energy content and stability of phenolic compounds derived from lignin degradation. She is a recipient of the highly competitive YIBS (Yale Institute of Biospheric Studies) Fellowship.
