Holly is a first year in the Zimmerman lab researching the correlation between structure and function in nanoscale metal-oxides. The ultimate goal of the project is to study the adsorption efficiency of metal-oxides with different exposed facets and subsequently design the optimal sorbant for use in treatment in contaminated water. By exploiting inherent chemical properties and affinities, Holly hopes to design nanomaterials that surpass current treatment methods in terms of inorganic oxyanion adsorption and removal.
