Sam is a doctoral student in the department of chemistry in the Anastas lab. He is from New Boston, Texas and completed his bachelor's degree in chemistry minoring in physics and mathematics from the University of Arkansas Little Rock. He was motivated to pursue green chemistry research as an undergraduate and was determined to continue it as a graduate student. Sam's current research is centered on the homogeneous catalytic transformation of lignin using environmentally safe chemicals.
