Originally from France, Laurene obtained her Bachelor degree in chemistry from Mcgill University, with an emphasis on environmental and atmospheric chemistry and minoring in environment. She stayed at Mcgill to complete her Masters degree in organic chemistry, where she developed phenolic copper catalyzed aerobic oxidations.

Laurene is looking at lignin valorization under the co-supervision of Prof. Zimmerman and Prof. Anastas.
